FlatPak House. . .

Fellow photographer Matthew Swarts posted this on Facebook yesterday and it immediately caught my attention... I love the concept of new homes and how they are constantly evolving and changing how we live.  This is a genius way to spend your summers.... the home away from home is the perfect place go when the five women you live with are in need of some space...
Be sure to check out the company here.

The latest prefab concept from the FlatPak studio – the Week’nder. Yup, a get away house to the great outdoors. The first Week’nder was installed on beautiful Madeline Island in Lake Superior this past July 2010. It made the ferry journey and upon landing at the terminal, the Week’nder was greeted by the Islanders with great interest and questions such as, “what the hell is that?” We replied, “it’s a modern prefab house concept.” That was met with “oh” and a long silence.

(Honey, if you're reading this... Please put this in the letter to Santa this year...)

Birds of a Feather . . .

Although they're not actually birds, they certainly fly (and sleep) together...

Memories of Summers Past . . .

Lately, I've been working with a vintage style of photo and I thought I'd share a few of our family summer lake pictures with you.  I just love the film from the 70's and some of these pics remind me of sitting in my house as a child and looking through my parents' photo albums.  I hope you enjoy them...

The Impossible Project...

In the digital age that we live in today, some said film would die... Others said film is no longer needed... I say... there is something cool about the instant print... it delivers something the digital camera today cannot... It delivers a real print... to be held in your hand and passed around the table... to be cherished forever... here  is a quick short film on the Impossible Project ...Back when film manufacturing for Polaroid stopped,  Dr. Florian  Kaps started it up again... because he knew something that we all know... NOTHING is impossible...

A Gr 8 Birthday. . .

It may sound funny to so many of you out there, but I have never sent a text message.  This new form of communication has slowly seeped into the inner portion of my language center and I have made some attempt to utilize this "new" skill.  (See the blog title)  Now, on to more important things. . .  today we celebrated my daughter's 8th birthday... as usual, the girls were prepared to party... and party they did!

What the Future Holds ? ? ?

I was shown this video clip today by my wife's uncle and it both amazed and shocked the heck out of me all in the same viewing...  If this is for real, I'm amazed, if it's not... I'm still amazed.  I'll let you the viewer decide. Enjoy!

Happy 4th of July. . .

Although it is July 3rd, we celebrated our nation's independence with the company of dear friends... from the looks of it, the kids had a good time too...  Happy 4th... God Bless America!

Pic taken with my wife's point and shoot... not too bad considering they were swinging!

A CAMP THAT CARES. . .

Every once in a while we get to do something extraordinary.  Something that makes a difference in the lives of others.  Something that gives our lives purpose.  The video posted below documents just that.  My wife and I are actively involved in Camp Care.  Camp Care is a non-profit organization that provides free horseback riding lessons, exercise classes, and physical therapy to children with special needs.  We have been working with Camp Care for the past ten years and it gets better every year. It has been a blessing to watch the kids grow up into young adults and welcome new kids into camp every year.  For my family, camp has given us "purpose".  It has allowed us to grow in faith, hope, and love and continues to drive us to provide more for those in need.  I'd like to invite you to view the video below.  I had the opportunity to shoot my wife working with some riders last Saturday and it was an incredible day!

If you or someone you know would like to support Camp Care please visit www.campcarekids.org
